How it works

High-accuracy ANPR depends on controlled illumination of license plates to capture clear images for character recognition. MAV’s maxIRange™ technology delivers precisely timed pulses of infrared light from LEDs, synchronized with the camera’s exposure, to maximize brightness safely without the need for warning signs. Advanced current control prevents power ripple, while adaptive regulation ensures high output with minimal heat. By matching the lensing of the illumination to the camera optics, our systems—such as the Rapier 50—achieve long-range performance beyond 60 meters. Together, these innovations provide industry-leading IR illumination for optimal target capture.
