Commitment to achieving Net Zero

We are committed to achieving short-term science-based targets, aligned with the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C and aim to reduce our carbon footprint year on year.

To align MAV Systems with this, we have set a target of 35 CO2 ton reduction by 2030, this equates to a 4% reduction per year’ *

In addition to our short-term targets, we have also committed to achieve the UK Government objective of Net Zero Carbon by 2050.

As a key supplier to the UK’s transport and enforcement infrastructure, reducing our carbon emissions is a core business priority. Our ambitious sustainability targets reflect MAV Systems Limited’s commitment to delivering innovative ANPR solutions in the most efficient and environmentally responsible way, while ensuring maximum value and reliability for our customers.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions reduction targets

To continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon target of 62 CO2 ton reduction by 2030, which equates to a 4% reduction per year’ *

Actions from 2024

• Employee Electric Vehicle Scheme: Introduction of a salary sacrifice scheme enabling employees to purchase electric vehicles, with two staff members currently participating.
• On-Site EV Charging Infrastructure: Installation of two complimentary electric vehicle charging points at MAV Systems’ offices for employee use.
• Energy Efficiency Improvements: Installation of window film to reduce solar gain during summer months, lowering air conditioning demand and electricity consumption.
• Renewable Energy Commitment: MAV Systems is supplied exclusively by a 100% renewable energy provider.
• Enhanced Waste Management: Implementation of segregated waste streams for food, dry mixed recycling, and general waste to improve recycling rates and reduce landfill impact.

 

Future Actions

• Elimination of Single-Use Plastics: Phasing out plastic materials from the supply chain to reduce environmental impact.
• Sustainable Packaging: Transitioning to eco-friendly, recyclable, or biodegradable packaging solutions.
• Waste Reduction: Implementing continuous improvement processes to minimise waste generation across all operations.
• Localised Supply Chain: Over 65% of suppliers located within 30 miles of the factory, supported by call-off delivery systems to reduce transport emissions and excess deliveries.
• Energy Efficiency: Migration to LED-based lighting throughout facilities to reduce electricity consumption and carbon output.

 

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and associated guidance and reporting standards for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard[1] and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting[2].

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard[3].

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
